To convene, train, and support Black individuals to secure elected positions that drive a flourishing economy in Montgomery County, Maryland.
To champion diversity and inclusive representation of elected offices; by ensuring that Black voices are centered and amplified throughout political processes.
Rise and Run's training sessions begin Saturday, March 20, 2021 via Zoom, and continue for two Saturday mornings each month through August.
One final session will be held on September 11, 2021 to close out your training.
Please join us along with Montgomery County Councilmember Craig Rice as we announce the launch of Rise and Run. With at least five open county council seats next election cycle, we have a great opportunity to improve the diversity of our local government. Rise & Run is a community-led initiative to identify, inspire, and train Black leaders to run for public office. Councilmember Rice will share his personal insights on running for office and the rewards of public service.
Following our kick-off announcement, we will open up registration for Rise & Run's six-month boot camp. Qualified candidates will meet twice a month (virtually) and discuss campaign structure & timeline, fundraising, communications (and more!).
